Future Gas Prices Knowledge Base
Future Gas Prices?? Does ANYONE know a website that has a predition for future gas prices per gallon? [[It's for a school project]]
How do you lock in gas prices now for the future? I heard of people locking in the price of gas during the early spring last year before gas prices skyrocketed during hurricane season. How does one go about doing that? Im thinking we could have another run up for the summer. Thanks
will gas prices go up or down in the future? gas is expensive! here in california is about 4.50 averagly per gallon. will it ever go down? what about when the iraq war is over? does anyone know when gas prices will lower?
Who else here is outraged about gas prices this summer? Who else is genuinely pissed off that gas prices are climbing every day for no good reason save the profits of the oil companies? Not only has the 3.50-4.00 dollar gallon of gas (future price) destroyed my own personal travel plans for the summer, but it will stagger many Industries as a side-effect. I don't know about you, but I'm selling my car and buying a bicycle to get to work over the summer. I refuse to pay these outrageous and unjust prices while people are dying in the oil-rich middle east. Who's going to do their part? sell your car? boycott exxon-mobil? buy a hybrid? mass protest? let's hear it
What impact would a large Hurricane or two have on the already high gas prices? I was just sitting here thinking about the high gas prices and the future. I drive a daily route that somedays consists of 200+ miles round trip by the time I get back home. Its my job and im glad to have one. I have cut, trimmed and am doing everything I can to counter the high gas prices.Im now just looking down the road a bit and was wondering, "what impact would a large Hurricane or two, say a cat 4 or 5 in the Gulf do to the already high prices at the pump?"
Why do people complain about gas prices when "They,We & I" buy/sell & push up the price based on speculation? It just seems ridiculous that gas prices are up so much form over a year ago, for that matter since 9/11. Our oil reserves are well above what they were then & production has increased significantly. With the options traders on wall street, and the average investor looking to invest in their future, they are buying and selling gas futures and pushing up the price per gallon to near all time highs and taking their profits with them. Yes, some economical and political factors are at fault just as are natural weather related concerns. (i.e. Hurricane Katrina, etc.) I would just like to know what some of you think we could do as a whole to bring down prices without resorting to carpooling, using mass transit, or going green. Thank you for your inputs.
What is YOUR opinion on lowering gas prices by finding more oil on American soil? Do you think spending the money looking for oil in America is going to be better than paying over 3.00 a gallon of gas??? I was watching the news last night and they were doing a story on fuel economy and thought I would ask for other opinions. Personnally I think if it will help keep gas prices down in the future, then it's worth looking into!!
Can we as people of this country control some of the inflation on gas prices? If we as "the people" were to start a rally for 1 week and not buy gas, would we hurt ourselves? I believe the goverment has alot to do with the rise in gas prices and the prediction of the future gas prices. Why are we not using the reserved fuel (that we hear about) to help lower the cost at the pumps! I'm in the resoration business and just had to relinguish a new full sized pick up truck, now into a 10year old small pick up. I put approx 68,000 miles a year just for work @ 10 miles per gallon, and add that up with the prices of gas today. My truck I just picked up, granted small, but now get 22 miles to gallon, but why should we have to put ourselves in a predictament like this just to try and survive. With gas prices on the rise and no lower prices in sight, do we think that our economy will be able to get back on our feet. Our American dollar is not as strong as it has been and from the news I assum we will be loosing the streghth behind our dollar for sometime to come.
Are gas prices going to decrease any time in the near future??? I drive a 3/4 ton 4x4 quad-cab Dodge Hemi...I get about 10 mpg if I'm lucky. I love my truck, but it's times like these that I wish I drove a freakin' Ford Focus or something. Geeez. Sooo...are gas prices going down soon???? They can't stay like this forever...can they???
How do Oil Futures affect gas prices at the pump immediately? I understand that oil's future contract is a financial contract that allows you to lock in today a price at which you'll buy or sell oil in the future. What I don't understand is how this affects immediate gas prices at the pump. If the contract is to lock in a rate for a point in the future, why would the cost be passed down to the consumer almost immediately? I guess what I really want to know is this: the price of oil per barrel at a future date goes up..why would it impact the gas stations immediately? Oil future is for delivery at a future date, yet we see the hike at the gas stations immediately..is this how big oil companies make their record profit? they are passing on the cost of the oil immediately to the consumer when they don't ahve to pay for the oil until a future date
Gas prices? Does anyone else question why consumers end up dealing in futures when filling up at the pump? The consumer pays immediately for the gas they put in their tank. The gas station pays upon delivery of the gasoline; the price is set prior to delivery. The refineries, most of wich are owned by big oil companies are dealing in futures.. ON THEIR OWN PRODUCT. So why does the consumer suffer immediately when the market hedges on futures? Why do we allow stochastics to be implimented on the consumption end? It happens in most industries, but the oil companies have perfected the model. The Weather Channel says a hurricane is coming, gas prices jump 20 cents, the storm never materializes, prices fall, but in the mean time... we paid more and it's all for not. Am I wrong, or did we just suppliment the income of some old CEO so he can be sure he gets his $250 million pension and 3% stock option even if millions of people lose their homes?
Question about Gas prices? How is it that the oil companies can raise the price o gasoline that is already been delievered to gas stations based on the current price of a barrel of oil? They price goes up, everytime oil surges, even though the gasoline at gas stations was bought at a lower price. If they are marking up current product for future product, which they then again raise prices when the future gas gets to the stations, is that legal? If they can raise the price to reflect current oil prices, why aren't they required to lower the price when the price of oil drops by the same percentage? My wife and I were discussing this last night and neither of us could come up with a good explanation.
What is America really going to do about these gas prices? Seriously, isn't it eventually going to get to the point where our entire economy will just fall apart if gas prices keep rising the way they are? What is the future plan? I worry every time I have to hit the pump and it takes out a huge chunk of my paycheck. Some people probably can't even afford to drive to work any more! And now these insane fees for luggage on airlines. I know I'm not the only one hurting. When will the madness end and how?
Gas Prices? What is the future of gas prices in, say, a year from now?
Do you think the "Gas Prices" situation is hopeless or is there anthing we can do reduce our stress about it? This is my personal opinion: If gas prices keep going up and up which looks like that's the case for now, I think the only solution will be to each of us start investing in a hybrid/electric car. Personally, my next purchase will be a hybrid car that takes 60+ MPG. I think it's about time we start loosing the love to buy big SUVs and other Low Gas economy cars and invest in something that will save us possibly hundreds of dollars of gas now and in the future. What are your opinions?
Will higher gas prices save us from Global Warming? Are higher gas prices now helping our planets future? Now with people now turning to hybrid cars and away from SUV's And now that they are also pushing for more fuel efficient, electric and even hydro cars
Why do people think Bush has manipulated the gas prices? Oil prices, from which gas prices are derived, are driven by the laws of supply and demand. The summer was driving season and is peak time for fuel consumption. In the fall, demand tapers off, before it regains steam for heating in the winter. As such, oil prices are a function of supply and demand. Theoretically, all the oil companies could band together to push prices down, but that would be extraordinarily difficult. Bush cannot control the price of gas. Also consider all of the financial institutions that trade oil futures. They would not gain from depreciation (except from shorting) so they wouldn't manipulate it either. Oil prices have dropped roughly 29% over the past 2 months and gas prices have subsequently dropped by 28-30%. Thank you; I realize what OPEC is. I also realize that individual countries produce beyond their OPEC-mandated quotas in order to generate more revenue. I also realize that the planned OPEC production cut is likely to affect MAYBE 1/2 as much as they say it will because member countries do not want to lose that income stream. Also, OPEC provides 1/3 the world's oil, which is, of course, a huge number, but that still leaves 2/3.
What do the rising gas prices have in store for our future careers? I'm a senior in high school (graduating on the 31st) and am going to Ball State University to study wildlife biology and conservation. My subject may not have many adverse effects from the oil crisis, but what are jobs that will be directly or indirectly affected from the ever-rising prices of this resource? I would never buy an SUV or a Hummer, thank you very much. Call me arrogant, but I consider myself above those overrated gas-guzzlers. I don't even want or need all that room--I prefer small to medium sized cars. Large cars freak me out on the road. Furthermore, SUV and Hummer popularity is dwindling, thanks to the gas prices. I don't know any of my friends who would buy large vehicles for that reason alone.
