- GW is going to get everything he can before leaving office
- The value of the dollar is all time low. OPEC and been trying to get arid of the dollar for couple of years now. So when you have to buy oil with something they don't want, the value goes down(dollar) and it takes more of it to purchase the product and the price goes up. This now has nothing to do with supply or demand, it's all about the value of the dollar. I am so sick of everyone blaming Bush, it's NOT Bushes fault. It is the american consumers fault with thier consumption. Billruss is wrong: Actually we have more oil in the USA than all OPEC countries have combined. Just get educated on the green river basin. The problem is we have any to many enviromentalist like Al Gore who has made 100 Million on this subject.
- gas sellers want profits for their families...
- thanks to the bush he want step in and do something about it as long he in offices going rich him and his father. all he have to do is stop the war. and all that billions he sending over they the gas price's will be under 3.00 and back to 2.50. you have and point crack is cheaper.hopeful the next president will? in office's will bring down the oil prices.
- Probably lol , it just depends which reason they give us this time for it.Before it was since the price of oil going up.Now their saying price of oil, is only a small effect. Then it was the hurricanes which i can understand. Then it was for changing the blends from winter to summer and the reverse for later in the year. And on a site i was reading they also said that, opec was purposly lowering production by like 1 million barrels a day.Which would then drive up demand.(So they are paying fewer people to work, yet getting tripple the profit back it not more.)That would not, make anyone want to increase demand. They also use the scarce tactic, where they think they are going to have a shortage so they jack up prices more anyways. And each year they keep rasing it,and rasing it So from is seams like no one really knows, you will hear about one thing then a week later, the price drives up and theres no explination. The U.S has a oil reserve with millions and if not more filled with oil.And they are contantly finding new places with tons of oil, just seams like opec just wants to make money. The government should some how, put a cap on the % they can make (opec, marathon,bp ect) as profit, because its pretty much a monopoly.I dont see why giving them more money because its somewhat low, helps with this so called :shortage".Some think it has to do something with pres. Bush, but im not sure could be possible, but im not going there. But I will say venezeula has oil but because their president(Chavez) hates Bush,so they refuse to do any business.Good Luck on finding out the real answer, i think it would pi** alot of people off, if we ever really found out.Bottom line, someones getting rich at the expence of others,on a neccesity and many which cannot afford it.Like i said, OPEC and the larger gas station companies are a monopoly in theirselfs.Because we have no other source and they have us by the balls, whatever they say, goes.
- due to the price of oil going up,they are looking at gas prices to be at 5.10 a gallon by the next month or so.
- One word Bush Our debt is so big now that our dollar isn't worth anything The oil companies know that Bush will not try to keep them from Price gouging. OPEC no longer has to compete with Iraq. So they have a monopoly
- It is NOT BUSH, he will go down as the greatest president since Reagan in about 20 years after history works itself out, Clinton will go down as one of the worst. We are paying for what the Clintons did right now, the reason the Clintons had it easy was because of Reagan, it is always a trickle down effect. It will get better, but not for about 4 years for the Bush policy's to come into full force.
- the war in Iraq has created a certain amount of angst in the ME.......anytime you have instability in the ME THE PRICE OF GAS WILL GO UP......combine that with the fall of the dollar being caused by unrestricted free trade, and our government sending 200 billion a year to iraq.....and it is easy to understand high gas prices......but this suits bush just fine as his family fortune is tied up in the oil industry....especially in saudi oil!!!!!! BTW:: bush will not be the greatest president......if his policies are so great why is the economy in the toilet.....and don't give me crap about trickle down from previous presidencies....that may have been true 100 years ago before the technological age.....with our instant communications these days, anything the president does gets instant reaction from the entire world!!!!
- Gas prices are not overpriced, they are way underpriced. Look at Europe. If only the politicians in this country (US) had the guts to do what they should, raise the gas taxes way up (over a period of years), and use the revenues to build better public transportation, and support development of alternate energy sources. A recent article in Scientific American Magazine showed how we could switch a substantial percentage of our energy sources to solar cells. Gasoline, oil, is scarce and getting scarcer. There is only a limited amount of it left. Think of it. The demand for oil is increasing very rapidly. The amount of oil in the ground is decreasing rapidly. What can be the only end result? It's not good, and the governments need to start preparing for this global problem now. And one way it to raise gasoline prices. It will encourage public transportation, discourage SUVs, encourage small cars, minimize pollution and global warming.
- Cost of oil..and other inflation...just to raise costs..and make the "poor" , "Poorer"..TC/ God Bless you..;)
