Why are gas prices so high when we have an oil man as President?
If Bush is so great why are the oil prices so high? Wondering if we'd be better off with someone that didn't have such close ties to big oil companies. It makes me wonder if laws are being broken given the steep rise we've seen under his administration. Thoughts?

- Don't you understand? Bush and Cheney need a good retirement fund when they leave the White House. With raised gas prices, it brings their gas company stocks up, thus their retirement fund goes up. Woot! They are smart arses.
- Greed
- This is an easy one. With prices up, his own oil investments make more money. politics is a very illusive art. You have to look at every little news story carefully. For example, right now a court gave the department of the interrior 15 days to decide if polar Bears are endangered or not. the bush administration has publically pushed for a delay in such a decision. Why? If Polar Bears are declared endangered then that will close off many areas that the oil companies want to start drilling in. That would be a bad thing for Bush's oil investments. You have to really learn to pick things apart.
- This just proves that Bush and Oil Companies are NOT in bed together, or we would have the lowest gas prices around anywhere. You guys are all wet. Besides, in case you aren't smart enough to know this, the President of the U.S. does not set gas prices, whether it is Bush or Clinton.
- The president of the USA does not regulate gas prices. It is regulated mostly through supply + demand as well as the strength of the dollar and the economy.
- The Chinese have over 750 million automobiles and trucks in their country. It takes a lot of oil to keep them all running! That is one reason why gas prices are high. Americans, generally speaking, like big vehicles. That's another reason. The wealthy often buy cars that get less than 10 miles per gallon. That's another reason. The tragedy? In Iraq a tank of gas is less expensive than a few bottles of drinking water.
- The president, nor the US government, controls the economy or prices. The USA is not yet a socialist country. Enjoy freedom while we still have it.
- oil men absolutely love high gas prices
- he wants to retire rich.
