How come gas prices keeps on going up?
What cause the gas prices going up? Is it because of the war or what is the reason?

- There is no one reason, demand is high - that always means high prices, speculators are driving the prices up artificially, there's not enough refining capability in the US so we pay more for imported gas, etc. etc. It's not going to get better any time soon either, just look at other countries that are paying $8/gallon for gas.
- We are still importing gas from the Middle East and as the demand for gas becomes more intense, the prices are sky-rocketing. We have oil in the US, but Bush hasn't made the decision to drill it yet. Hopefully McCain or Obama will. If that happens, they gas prices will go back to what they were before 9/11.
- Corporate GREED! (That and the fact that Democrats keep blocking ALL attempts to start any new drilling in ANWR or off our coasts, and there hasn't been a new refinery built in this country in over 30 years thanks to the protests of the window licking, tree worshiping, bunny huggers.)
- Greed It has nothing to do with the war. Those that can are making as much money as they can, as fast as they can. Conditions are ripe for the raping of the world
- politicians- One party says you can't drill, can have refineries. We have trillions of barrels of oil shale that could be refined. We have even figured how to get it cheaply. We could even have 99 cents gasoline. Its politics. You and I PUT THESE PEOPLE IN OFFICE AND THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE.
- Vicious cycle of hedging investments in oil contracts has made the commodity enticing on a global scale as 8 major economy's are struggling with gas prices. Solution to the problem would be to not televise problems in the middle east or anywhere concerning oil. The media is part of the blame as speculators use this info in their trading. Regulating speculators is the key to this problem. World markets will follow as less trading will simply reduce the spikes in the crude.
- ITS GOING UP BECASE OF GLOBLE WARMING AND THE GAS COMPAYS TRYING TO MAKE A BIGER PROFIT ONLY A LIL BIT BEACUSE OF THE WAR
- The price of oil has increased therefore thats why gas prices has gone up. It isn't going down anytime soon according to the media. However their is an aletrnative this guy Oliver South convereted his BMW to water gas fuel. He has a video that shows step by step how anyone can do this. There is also a review website that I found in my research that covered a few other companies that are doing the same thing. You might want to check the review site at http://waterfuelconversion.googlepages.com
- Corporate greed, relying too much on the middle east instead of going to south america, election year, the falling dollar, car companies making bigger cars that holds very little gas, the US being a cheapo. We as american must rise and take a stand against big oil. I encourage all american that we hold a protest at the locations of big oil and make our voices heard. without us, they are not making any money!
- The problem is the weak dollar..In 1988 a barrel cost 65 euros and $60. dollars..A barrel today cost 65 euros and $145 & rising. And it's not like the states don't have oil we do but we are busy buying futures for the what ifs even though there is enough oil right now in reserves to stop importing oil and start using ours for 100 years to come. I'm a PR listener..
- Global warming has everyone hot under the collar. It means weather changes, affects the food, and will generally affect the climates on earth. The United States emits 6, 049,435 metric tons of co2 each year. China, with 1,330,044,605 people, only emits 5, 010,170 metric tons of co2 each year. They are in line behind the U.S. with 18.4 % of the globe's emissions. The U.S. emits 22.2% which is over 1/5 of the world's emissions!! So, in order to combat this problem, gas prices must rise. What do American's like to drive? SUVs, F150s, and other large vehicles. Is this adding to the carbon emission? Yes it is. If gas prices rise, will some people try and switch to smaller cars? Yes. Gas prices cannot fall, because then people would just take huge, cross-country trips from coast to coast, and further "drive" up the co2 emissions. They don't do that on purpose, but people will take long trips if gas prices rise. In order to force people to go "green", gas prices have to be raised. Sorry, but that is just human nature. People must be forced to make a change. People cannot decide that fast-food on a daily basis is bad for them; the government has to implement a food pyramid to tell people how to eat. Imagine that! By the way, you might want to check the fuel tax in your state! You'd be suprised. As people consume less fuel, the demand for it will decrease, and hopefully so will the costs. And by the way, for those people who say that some Europeans are paying $10 per gallon in some areas; European countires are smaller than United States. Here in U.S. shopping malls are miles away from home. In Europe, sometimes they are just right down the block. With smaller towns and roads, smaller cars are needed. That further contributes to their fuel economy. Americans are just going to pull out the ole ten-speed and the Honda cycles.
- I'm going to tell you first-hand and honestly that boycotting gas for any amount of time - big or small - will not be practical for regulating gas prices. As soon as that boycotting is over, gas prices will be up again and even WORSENED because there will be much much higher national demand for gas. This is not the way to go, and, truthfully, there is nothing direct any person can do to influence these prices. HOWEVER, you must know that the prices AREN'T high. it's the VALUE of the dollar that's LOW. inflation. the increase in production of money leading to the prevention of gas shortages by raising the price [of gas] and everything else in the market. Who are we to blame for this? Who caused the inflation? Who regulates the amount of money in circulation? One answer: The Federal Reserve. directed and influenced by the American government. This gives them the ability to regulate the value of the dollar as they please. Hence, giving them the upmost control over the economy. Government doing anything to fight the recession? Give me a break. The government does not give a flying FC*K about Americans. Afterall, most of our attention is still paid to Paris, Britney, Miley Cyrus, and press pictures published of Jamie Lynn Spear's newborn baby.
- There is no reason, there is no gas shortage. These prices are called "gauging" aka ripping us off. President Bush is an oil man, he used to own an oil company all his stock and partners are in oil, and Mr.Bush must make his money. As for us, oil stinks for the environment anyway so I say we just go buy the new hondas that run on water. I saw a commercial for it today! Hooray for the future, and screw president bush.
- Don't let anyone tell you it is from supply and demand. That is a LIE! It is due to all the future market buy outs... they feel that gas is a HUGE future commodity since sometime in the DISTANT future there will be little to no oil so they buy up all the stocks and run the price out of the ball park. I watched CSPAN a few weeks ago when they pulled the heads of the major oil companies before congress. Congress asked them point blank, "after making 18 billion dollars in PROFITS last year and continuously raising the price of gas, how can you sleep at night?" They replied that some of those profits are returned to the industry to make advances. But thats another lie... Its called PROFITS.... it wouldnt be called PROFITS if part of it was being returned to the business. Those people are money hungry jackasses. Until those in power are pulled from power, our economy will continue to crumble to the ground. I feel it every day. I work as a cocktail server at a casino, and more and more people are not going out anymore. All of my friends in the entertainment industry such as servers, Dj's, dancers are all feeling a SERIOUS pinch. No one is tipping. No one is coming out anymore. It's getting worse and worse. All I can do right now is use as little gas as possible. It is about 10 miles to the nearest walmart. Im debating buying a basket for my bike so I can ride it there. I honestly do not know what to do anymore. In all reality they should never have put something we cannot live without on the stock market. It's like putting a price on air. Each breath you take, you pay 5cents. These things need to be removed from the market, removed from investors. Or nothing will change.
