Why Are Gas Prices So High?

Is there any hope in gas prices going down?

I've been planning on going to Alaska (coming from central California) in mid-late may. Now that the gas prices are going up, it looks like my roadtrip dreams have been shattered. None of my friends can go with me to split the costs. Will the prices go down any time in the summer? Anyone need a ride up the north west?

1. It will be fall before prices drop, unless they manage to build several more new refineries. Envirmental wienies will make sure that won't happen....
2. no, prices will only go higher by mid to late June, so things will get worse before they get better.
3. i wouldnt think soo any time soon.
