Some analyists think the price of gas will drop this summer and other analysists disagree.. Why are future gas prices unpredictable?

- Too many "what-if" scenarios. What if the US invades Iran? What if demand doubles in China What if there's a hurricane that devastates the Gulf of Mexico, destroying off-shore refineries? Combine that with an oil price that's largely controlled by "speculators", and you end up with an unknown market value from DTD
- Because they are determined by a lot of factors that are unpredictable, such as unscheduled refinery shutdowns, terrorist attacks on oil infrastructure, demand from other places around the world (such as China), plans OPEC has to mess with production levels, hurricanes that damage offshore drilling rigs....etc....
