Why Are Gas Prices So High?

What do you think the future of gas prices are going to be?

Do you think the election will change it?

Public Comments

  1. Sure. Democrats are already planing to raise gas taxes even more by 40 cents a gallon.
  2. the election will not change it and i think it will be like 7 dollars a gal in the next five years
  3. higher and higher bush said he "jawbone the price down" but i guess he failed.
  4. No. High gas prices are here to stay.
  5. i think the new president shuld lower the prices but idk
  6. Unless the US starts drilling for oil where it was previously off limits, the price will continue to increase. What is going to stop OPEC? Hillary? LOL, how does she plan to do that? Tell them to give us gas for free or else? Or else what?
  7. The election will change it, but only slightly so people can notice it. Because whenever a candidate talks about change, it scares the oil tycoons to death. It's all about the money.
  8. yes i do becouse we wont reelect someone who doesnt lower gas prices and they know it
  9. Democrats are not doing any good to the gas prices for america. In the future it's going to be ridicoulisly high if we are run by democrats
  10. Gas prices, and pretty much everything else, are going to go up till who knows when. However, one thing i'm sure of, weekly, monthly, annual, salaries will remain the same. That's not good. The election will possibly change prices. Or maybe the election won't. only time will tell.
  11. they are going to be awfull, so i suggest you start riding a bike
  12. Saw on fox the other day, a place on hwy 1 in california,do not remember the name of the town, 5.15 a gal. that to me is B.S., someone in the middle east is building a new mansion, and we are paying for it!!!!!!!!
  13. With ademocrati controlled congress, up up and away.
  14. I don't think the election will have any affect on gas prices, the only way to get rid of higher gas prices, is to severely cut the amount of oil that the US uses, once oil consumption goes down, gas prices will go down.
  15. $5.00 a gallon U.S. This was discussed and negotiated by Dick Cheney with the Carlyle Group and Exxon Mobil prior to the 2000 elections........Google it for the facts. Vote Democrat 08 Super Ticket Clinton/Obama
  16. Republicans love: Oil, Guns, God, and War. $4/gallon Democrats will END our reliance on oil.
  17. Gas prices will continue to rise. The motivation is profit. Gas prices will only fall if demand falls. And in the US I can't see that happening anytime soon.
  18. it is going to balloon. it will rise and rise and give rise to more wars
  19. goldman sachs says possible $200 a barrel for oil. So whatever you're paying now, double it and that'll give you a good estimate. It's never going to go down because producers are greedy f***ers. it's not just middle east companies either. for everyone who says, ooh, we'll just drill our own. well, alberta, canada drills their own too, and their gas is $4 per gallon and their media feeds them the same bs about it rising due to unrest in the ME. so when we bomb iran think about how much unrest that'll cause!! i'm thinkin about $200 a barrel worth. The election won't change it because all the current candidates (except ron paul) have all more or less said that they're going to stir up an even bigger shitstorm in the middle east than we have going on now. So, buy stock in bicycle companies.
  20. Got some fascinating reading for you. http://www.dieoff.com/
  21. I sense that they are preparing us for $4 a gallon. It is odd that the big oil companies are report record profits, and the price keeps rising. I think that a deal was struck sometime ago. People were not buying the smaller cars and the auto companies were complaining. I read rumors that people were hgoing to be pushed toward smaller cars, specifically the hybids, by gas prices. The problem is that raising gas prices to sell a more expensive car hits the working and poor very hard. As always, the people most able to save money already have enough. That seems to be a universal law. I looked at the Prius in 2002 and concluded that an Echo was long term more cost efficient. While gas is priced artificially high, the prices of eggs, milk, cheese, meat, etc. rises because they are now using grain to create fuel for the big gas hogs. Again, the wealthy are not hurt by this, but the working people are getting hammered twice, at the gas pump, and in the grocery store. Never mind the rising costs of transportation that is affecting everything. VOTING: The election isn't going to change a damn thing. All lof the supporters of those three candidates haven't a clue about what is really going on. Well...... the coroporations, and those who are going to continue benefiting regardless of who is elected know! We are way past the point where voting is going change anything. We will pay dearly for anything that any of them are pretending to give us. Want free health care and free education. No problem. All you have to do is go fight in Iran and Syria for the benefit of Israel. Taking from the working people and giving it to the poor and coporations(democrats and repeblicans) has just about run its course. There is much more to be taken, because the working people are becoming the poor. The wealthy elite have 98% of the wealth, and they are keeping it. Who do people think picked these candidates for us. We didn't pick them. Most people in the caucuses and primaries were voting against someone. The election will change nothing. At first I read "electron", and felt a fleeting sense of hope. You know. Maybe he knows of some scientific breakthough that I haven't read about yet. Nope! You wrote "election". No hope there!
  22. Gas prices will go as high as the oil companies can push them. What political party is in office will mean little difference. I don't hear any one of the remaining candidates even mentioning gas & energy prices will meaningful dialog. kind of reminds me of the immigration problem, lot of rehtoric with no results. Only thing on McCain,s mind is Iraq & WAR, WAR!!. All the other two do is attack each other! What a choice facing the American people. Back to gas prices, I believe the price will continue to rise until the consumption starts to decline as people absolutely cannot afford to buy it. Then, the prices will decline. what good is a high price if nobody can buy it. Don't forget, oil companies, being a large part of Corporate America, own both political parties!!!! Only change will occur when oil becomes to expensive to take out of the ground or one or the other political party will put the welfare of America before their own selfish needs & develop other energy sources!!!
  23. Yeah, think about how much we would be paying for gas if it weren't for those nutjob environmentalists. Maybe about 60 cents a gallon? 80 cents?
