What do the rising gas prices have in store for our future careers?
I'm a senior in high school (graduating on the 31st) and am going to Ball State University to study wildlife biology and conservation. My subject may not have many adverse effects from the oil crisis, but what are jobs that will be directly or indirectly affected from the ever-rising prices of this resource? I would never buy an SUV or a Hummer, thank you very much. Call me arrogant, but I consider myself above those overrated gas-guzzlers. I don't even want or need all that room--I prefer small to medium sized cars. Large cars freak me out on the road. Furthermore, SUV and Hummer popularity is dwindling, thanks to the gas prices. I don't know any of my friends who would buy large vehicles for that reason alone.

- If we all ,in North America stopped buying gasoline for just one day, the world oil barrel prices would go down drastically. Unfortunately, as a young person, about to embark on your life and career, you are quite likely to be a victim of media hype to lure you to buy a HUMMERor similarly obscene S.U.V. [I hope not]. It is most definately up to your generation to be informed, to act toward change, and to empower yourself, and your friends to make sensible change regardless of what government is trashing in regards to the environment.
- i see a lot of unemployment, and if people do work, they'll need two , maybe three jobs just to get by. i say that in about five years from now, gas prices will be so high, we'll be laughing at what the prices are now. we'll also be paying more for most common household goods, and higher bills as well.
