What is the best truck for gas mileage?

What is the best truck (no SUVs) for gas mileage? I'm looking to buy a new truck in the next week or so. Thanks.

3. Depends. Full size, 3/4-1ton, i'd go with a dodge ram w/ the cummins turbo diesel. Depending on how it's geared, your talking close to 24 mpg for a vehicle with a 8000lb gvwr. Less for the 4x4. Diesels are more costly to maintain than gas engines, but last longer, plus, you can convert them to run on bio-diesel, and even vegetable oil, while still having the ability to run #2 diesel from the gas station! Compact truck your thing, go with a toyota. They hold their resale value better than nissan, and are way better trucks. All the other compact pickup trucks don't hold a candle to the toyota.
4. Probably a Nissan or a Mazda.
