What car has the best gas mileage, ever?

I'm curious on what car has the most outstanding gas mileage. I'm looking for a car that has good gas mileage, so, if anyone knows antyhing, please tell me!! Thank you!

2. Don't know about ever, but I'm told that the 2005 and up Toyota Prius gets in the neighborhood of 45-60mpg...
3. Toyota's hybrid Prius gets in the mid-50's. Honda's hybrid is about the same.
4. The best production car I ever heard of was the VW Rabbit in the late 70's early 80's. It got 54 mile to the gallon. The Ford Festiva was up there too like 48 - 50 miles to the gallon.
5. depends on how much u want to spend right now the toyota prius has the best milage in hybrid 60mpg in local driving and 42+ on fwy. if you are low on cash i would get a 1992-1995 honda civic hatchback VX model that gets 45+mpg. also you can consider the civic hybrid and vw jetta disel that gets good milage. well good luck on your searching!

7. Toyota has the best mileage out there right now. especially the corollas and if you think it is your style you could go for the hybrid cars that really offers you good mileage
8. honda 600 or a fiat 600 or a bmw isetta all around 50mpg
9. depends on distance driven....for less than a couple miles i suggest a scooter or a bicycle...for anything else i suggest a ford focus..... i would normally suggest a prius but reading consumer info on them was less than satisfactory....they are stamping them out as fast as they can......
